Starting with President Obama’s promise last March, and with the choice of the Friends of the USA Pavilion to oversee our efforts, and now the official handover of this lot to the United States, we are on our way to creating a USA Pavilion that will showcase our country’s innovation and make a profound contribution towards the Expo’s critically important goal of “Feeding the Planet.”

    Rome, July 3, 2014 -- Good evening and welcome to Villa Taverna. We are here to celebrate the birth of America 238 years ago on July 4, 1776. On that date, after months of debate in Philadelphia and after a year of fighting with the British, the Continental Congress consisting of 56 colonists representing 13 colonies made the momentous decision to vote to sever the ties with the Crown of England, the Mother Country.

    Pistoia, May 19-21, 2014 -- This week, YouLab Pistoia: An American Corner, located at the Biblioteca San Giorgio in Pistoia, is hosting a group of 40 American Spaces coordinators from southern, eastern and central Europe at a workshop entitled "21st Century American Spaces: Innovation, Learning and Entrepreneurship." Participants from a total of 16 European countries from Azerbaijan to Portugal have come together to learn new ways to reach their communities.

    Rome, April 1, 2014 -- During a ceremony yesterday at U.S. Embassy Rome, Italy received a check for 1.5 million dollars from U.S. authorities deriving from assets seized during the joint Italian-U.S. operation ‘Fire and Ice’ – a drug trafficking and money-laundering investigation that lasted several years.
