    San Salvatore Telesino, April 21, 2012 -- About one hour northeast of Naples, Italy is a small, quiet town that sits in the rolling hills of southern Italy, a town that in 1943 sat at the heart of world events. When Italy surrendered to Allied forces in 1943 during World War II, the town of San Salvatore found itself at a crossroads between German occupying forces and the Allied invasion of Italy.

    Heidelberg, Germany, March 5-6, 2012 -- The Italian Army Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Claudio Graziano and key staff toured United States Army Europe Headquarters and U.S. and allied training areas in Germany 5-6 March. The Italian Commander first traveled to Heidelberg to meet with the USAREUR Commanding General, Lt. Gen. Mark P. Hertling, to discuss valuable joint training and exchange opportunities between the two militaries.

    January 15, 2012 -- The United States Embassy in Rome sends its condolences to the families of those passengers of the Costa Concordia cruise ship who died in a shipwreck off the coast of Tuscany early this morning. The welfare of American citizens in Italy is the highest priority of the U.S. Embassy in Rome, and the U.S. Embassy in Rome and the U.S. Consulate in Florence are working with local officials and the families of the passengers to provide assistance to Americans affected by the accident.
