ELIZABETH L. DIBBLE

ChargÉ d'affaires

Elizabeth Dibble assumed her duties as Chargé d'affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Rome on February 6, 2009. She has been serving as the Deputy Chief of Mission since August of 2008. From 2006 to 2008 she served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Economic, Energy and Business Affairs, where her portfolio included international finance, development and investment.

From 2004 to 2006 she was Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, with responsibility for managing U.S. relations with Israel, the Palestinian Authority, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria. She was a member of the State Department's Senior Seminar from 2003 to 2004.

Her prior overseas assignments include Damascus, Islamabad, Tunis and London. In Washington, she has served as Director of the Office of Peace Process and Regional Affairs in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs and as Deputy Director of the Office of Development Finance in the Economic Bureau, in addition to working for several years at the Office of the United States Trade Representative.

A New Jersey native, Ms. Dibble is a graduate of Georgetown University. She and her husband Philo have three daughters.

Elizabeth Dibble ha assunto la carica di Chargé d'affaires dell'Ambasciata Americana a Roma il 6 febbraio 2009. Dall'agosto 2008 ha svolto il ruolo di Vice Capo Missione. Dal 2006 al 2008, ha ricoperto l’incarico di Vice Assistente del Segretario del Dipartimento per l’Economia, l’Energia e le Finanze, nell’ambito del quale ha svolto mansioni nei settori della finanza internazionale, dello sviluppo e degli investimenti.

Dal 2004 al 2006, è stata Vice Assistente del Segretario dell’Ufficio per gli Affari del Vicino Oriente, con l’incarico di gestire le relazioni statunitensi con Israele, l’Autorità Palestinese, Egitto, Giordania, Libano e Siria. Dal 2003 al 2004, è stata membro del Senior Seminar del Dipartimento di Stato.

I suoi precedenti incarichi internazionali includono Damasco, Islamabad, Tunisi e Londra. A Washington ha prestato servizio in qualità di Direttore dell’Ufficio per il Processo di Pace e Affari Regionali, all’interno dell’Ufficio per gli Affari del Vicino Oriente, ed in qualità di Vice Direttore dell’Ufficio per lo Sviluppo e Finanza, all’interno dell’Ufficio Economico. Ha inoltre prestato servizio per sette anni presso l’Ufficio dell’U.S. Trade Representative.

Nata nel New Jersey, Ms. Dibble ha conseguito il diploma di laurea presso la Georgetown University. Ė sposata con Philo Dibble ed hanno 3 figlie.
