Passport Services

In this pages you will find information on how to obtain a U.S. passport.

See the appropiate webpage for:

Passport Application for Department of Defense ID Card Holders

For U.S. passport services, all U.S. military personnel, their families, and Department of Defense civilians at U.S. military bases in Italy should contact their command to take advantage of the special processing system in place.

— Processing Time—

Except in emergencies, U.S. passports are now produced at facilities in the United States. This change increases the processing time by approximately one to two weeks.
Please take this extra time into consideration when applying for or renewing passports at an Embassy or Consulate and plan your travel accordingly.

— Photo Requirements—

U.S. passport photos are different from Italian passport photos and many photographers in Italy are not familiar with U.S. passport photo specifications. We strongly recommend that you print out the photo requirements for U.S. Passports available below and take them with you to the photographer!
