[…] Sette anni dopo, l’America ricorda ancora la solidarietà e la risposta di tutti gli Italiani in quel triste giorno. I terroristi volevano dividerci, usando il terrore per seminare sospetto tra Oriente e Occidente e tra gli alleati. Il risultato è invece che siamo ancora più uniti, pur nella diversità di religione, pensiero politico, razza o nazionalità. In quel momento, tutti noi che amiamo la libertà avemmo la certezza di essere sotto attacco, ed insieme unimmo le nostre forze per fornire una risposta adeguata.

[…] Ecco quel che non possiamo mai dimenticare. L'11 settembre la comunità internazionale prese drammaticamente coscienza di una minaccia che fino a quel momento non aveva potuto individuare e valutare in tutta la sconvolgente portata : la minaccia del terrorismo internazionale.

[…] Oggi – soprattutto dopo l’11 settembre – l’Italia e gli Stati Uniti sono impegnati nella difesa di una cultura e civiltà comuni: la libertà individuale, la ricerca del bene comune, le eguali opportunità, la tutela dei diritti della persona, valori che rafforzano, in questo inizio di terzo millennio, un’amicizia indissolubile.

[…] Quel giorno tragico rimane nella memoria di tutti gli uomini amanti della libertà e della pace come quello in cui si è manifestata in tutta la sua carica distruttiva e disumana la minaccia del terrorismo alla convivenza internazionale e alla prospettiva di progresso e cooperazione tra i popoli della Terra.

[…] Sono trascorsi ormai sette anni dall’11 settembre del 2001, ma il ricordo di quella tragedia è ancora vivo nel cuore di ogni americano e, ne sono sicuro, di ogni cittadino del mondo.

[…] September 11, 2001, was etched into America's memory when 19 terrorists attacked us with barbarity unequaled in our history. On Patriot Day, we cherish the memory of the thousands of innocent victims lost, extend our thoughts and prayers to their families, and honor the heroic men and women who risked and sacrificed their lives so others might survive. Since 9/11, we have recognized the threat posed by terrorists to the safety of the American people and worked to protect our homeland by fighting terrorists abroad.

[…] Tomorrow, in remembrance of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, President and Mrs. Bush will participate in a moment of silence at the White House and deliver remarks at the dedication of the Pentagon memorial. Following the attacks of September 11, 2001, President Bush recognized the threat posed by terrorists and took action to protect Americans and defeat violent extremism. Because of the actions taken by President Bush, America is safer, more secure, and winning the War on Terror.

[…] There are 184 new stainless steel cantilevered benches on the southwest side of the Pentagon. Beneath each bench is a small reflecting pool offering the rippling sound of moving water with nearby paperbark maple trees providing shade. Seven years after terrorists commandeered American Airlines Flight 77 and flew it into the Defense Department, these benches will be unveiled as part of a permanent memorial to the 184 people who died in the September 11, 2001, attack on the Pentagon. President Bush will dedicate the Pentagon Memorial, which has been under construction since June 2006.
